We are in the process of implementing new bioinformatics techniques to build a web-based framework to integrate phylogenetic and biogeochemical information in a format that allows spatial and temporal cross comparison and correlation. Presently AMO utilizes Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to geo-reference all samples taken from our study sites. In the future, AMO will use web based GIS tools to allow researchers and the public to more easily visualize geo-referenced datasets such as phylogenetic information, environmental variables and biogeochemical parameters. Our ultimate goal is to layer all of these attributes in a mapping format that will include analytical tools to statistically test spatial and temporal comparisons and among all of the data sets.
